Patrick Dougherty Named to D Magazine’s List of Best Financial Planners in Dallas-Fort Worth

Patrick Dougherty, MBA, CFP®, AEP©, WPWealth Principal, has been named to D Magazine’s Best Financial Planners in Dallas-Fort Worth List for the 16th time.
D Magazine asked every Certified Financial Planner in the Dallas-Fort Worth chapter of the Financial Planning Association to cast an online ballot. They were asked to name peers, both inside and outside their firms, whom they considered to be the most skilled and experienced financial planners in the industry. Outside-firm votes counted more than inside-firm votes. Self-nominations were tossed out. A panel of esteemed local financial planners reviewed the list.
“It’s a tremendous honor to be included in D Magazine’s 2024 list of Best Financial Planners in Dallas-Fort Worth,” expressed Dougherty. “Of all the awards in our profession, this is the most meaningful to me because it is a peer nomination. Essentially, the nomination was by my competitors. Sharing this recognition with numerous skilled and accomplished financial planners is truly humbling.”
Dougherty serves clients in creating custom solutions for wealth accumulation, management, and protection, and multi-generational transfers. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) and ACCREDITED ESTATE PLANNER© (AEP©). Dougherty has had exceptional experience in providing financial planning/investment management strategies such as equity immunization, tax planning, estate planning, risk management, retirement incoming planning; and human, financial, and social capital planning as well as family legacy planning.
Dougherty previously served as an instructor at Southern Methodist University where he taught courses in Financial Planning Strategies and Case Studies that served as the capstone course for the SMU CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Certificate program. Prior to SMU, Dougherty served as an Adjunct Professor with the University of Dallas Graduate School of Management, for eight years.
Dougherty currently serves on the Dallas Chamber Symphony Board of Directors is a graduate of the Dallas Regional Chamber’s Leadership Dallas Class of 2019, and a member of the InfraGard Partnership for Protection. He currently serves on the Editorial Review Board of the Journal Financial Planning, is a member of the Financial Planning Association, as well as the Dallas Estate Planning Council of the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils. He is often quoted in the media, to include: Dallas Morning News; Investor’s Business Daily; Money Magazine; Journal of Financial Planning; etc. He has been named to the Five Star Wealth Manager List by Texas Monthly Magazine. The group he is the most passionate about serving with is the Patriot Guard Riders. A group of motorcyclists that participate in the Military Honors Funeral Program, where they serve as escorts at the funerals of U.S military veterans. In the absence of a Military Honor Guard, Dougherty plays “Taps” at the services.
Dougherty earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Texas and his Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Financial & Estate Planning from the University of Dallas.
